Weekly feedback, analysis and running sessions
The Importance of Feedback
There are three major benefits to using feedback in your workouts:
• You learn better technique and you learn it faster
• You increase the effectiveness of your training
• You reduce your injury risk by performing exercises correctly
So if you’re still exercising on your own without a coach you’re setting yourself up for slower learning, higher injury risk and poorer results.
“There are only four rules you need to remember: make the plan, execute the plan, expect the plan to go off the rails, throw away the plan. Follow my lead and you’ll be fine.” Leonard Snart.”
This is where a coach comes into help. To provide feedback, assistance, information, inspiration, motivation and of course guidance.
Together with the athlete I will analyse the progress and the running sessions in order to understand the actual fitness level of the athlete and adjust the future sessions accordingly.
There is also the possibility to run with me and get real-time feedback as well. These sessions are my favourite where I have the privilege to know better the runner as a person and address the issues without the need to wait for an online session. Moreover there is a unique possibility to analyse other factors that the online approach simply doesn’t offer due to obvious limitations.
The best feedback scenario is in my opinion a proper combination of coach/athlete interaction and the build of a proper relationship based on trust which is of fundamental importance for the athlete to get the best level of the expected future results/gains and for the coach in order to receive genuine data/information in order to understand and help the athlete in the best possible way.

A few important aspects of discussion for me often include:
– Goal settings and event selection
– Effective communication with athletes
– Establish appropriate goals for athletes / Training progression
– Gear choice (shoes, apparel) / Safety-Performance-Comfort
– Injury prevention
– Mental training elements
– Strategies
– Motivation / Mental fatigue
– Nutrition
There is no requirement for the athlete to know the science behind these topics. On the other hand, a successful coach must be confident in their knowledge and the results that they can deliver for an athlete.
